What Are the Rules of Party Dressing?

There are no rules. Forget the curling iron and the dress you can’t sit down in. Our new collection of very pretty, very festive pieces are designed to shake things up at every bash, blowout and wedding on your spring and summer agenda. Here’s how to wear them…

shares Facebook Twitter Pinterest TumblrNowadays it has become the norm for women to get together on a particular night of the week when they are younger and once a month when they are older to go out clubbing. What this means is that these women get together to celebrate their sisterhood by going out together...:

Who says dressing up has to involve a dress at all? It’s basically impossible to not feel festive in this candy-colored
tulle skirt.

Style tip: Pair it with a tee for a more casual vibe.

You know those Saturdays when you leave your house at noon for a casual bite with friends and somehow end up on someone’s rooftop at 2am? This is the dress for that day.

Style tip: Keep it low-key when it comes to jewelry (sorry, the tiara stays in the box today).

Option A: Take a dip in the ocean.

Option B: Spritz a sea-salt spray (we like Lavett & Chin’s) on damp hair, then loosely braid it. Sleep on it or let it air-dry and lightly tousle.

High-waisted shorts in madras-inspired plaid are guaranteed to stand out in a sea of LBDs. Plus, theyre way more conducive to riding on the back of a bike, if that’s where the evening happens to take you…

Style tip: Try a pair of bold statement earrings to dress
them up.

The Rhodes blazer in vintage plaid, the vintage cotton tank top, the high-waisted short in vintage plaid and fan crystal earrings (similar).

You can’t go wrong with a classic cocktail dress—but a dramatic ruffle and a bright pop of emerald green make it really, really right.

Style tip: No accessories required (except maybe some sparkling conversation).

How to get that fresh-out-of-the-sun glow (or just get rid of that fresh-out-of-the-cubicle glow): Start with a tinted moisturizer, then add a translucent lip stain to your lips and to the apples of your cheeks. That’s it. Seriously.

We shot this story at the Curtain Bluff resort on the island of Antigua in the West Indies. Besides being a pretty dreamy place to spend a few days, you can get some feel-good vibes knowing that the resort started a fund to help support its local community with educational grants and health care.
